The Committee considers applications frequently.

You will need to complete an application form and a standing order mandate. You are encouraged to make your application using the online form but you may alternatively download and fill in the  paper form if more convenient.

In either case the standing order mandate must be printed out, completed and signed and sent by regular post.

Using the online form (preferred)

You should complete the online form to indicate your interest in joining the Society.  You will need one proposer who is a member of the Society in good standing.  Type in the proposer's name, address and email address in the appropriate places. Ask the proposer to send a letter to Julia Goodwin at the address below or an email from their own email address to the membership secretary at socsocmed@googlemail.com, indicating support for your application (for a guide to contents, see bye-law 1i).  You will be sent email confirmation of receipt of your application when the proposer's support is received by the membership secretary.

This method is preferred because it reduces transcription errors in our office.

Now complete the standing order mandate.

Using the paper form

The paper form download includes the standing order mandate. It is set out using standard table formatting so that it is easy to complete in e.g. Word.

Along with your application form, please send a cheque for £20.00 to be made payable to 'The Society for Social Medicine' to cover the subscription for the calendar year in which you are elected and a completed Standing Order Mandate which will take effect from the following January.
