The objective of the Society is to promote the development of scientific knowledge in social medicine. Social medicine is defined as epidemiology, the study of the provision and organisation of health services, and the study of the prevention of disease. Membership of the Society is open to anyone whose work is consistent with this objective. Anyone wishing to join the Society should complete the membership application form and the standing order mandate and return with a cheque for £35.00 (for the current year) to Julia Goodwin, the membership secretary.
Applications for membership are considered frequently by the committee.
