The workshop

Professor Simon Capewell will lead a two-hour workshop on planning and managing projects for anybody who would like to improve their capabilities as PI. Professor Ruth Dundas will be on hand to provide additional insights. They will provide essential tips on how to assemble and manage the right team and suggestions on ensuring projects maintain momentum and stay on track. Additionally, they will provide pointers on dealing with the administrative challenges of managing the budget and wrapping up at the end of projects.

Simon Capewell

Emeritus Professor in Public Health, University of Liverpool

Simon has worked in public health for three decades, teaching, advising on policy, and researching the epidemiology and prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), hence studies on inequalities, tobacco, alcohol, inactivity and, crucially, poor diet.

Simon’s personal outputs thus far include over 400 publications (Google H index 80), and some £30 million in total funding (over £5m as Principal Investigator).

Simon enjoys family time, walking & gardening. He also greatly enjoys mentoring colleagues at all levels, helping them to overcome current challenges and fulfil their personal and professional potential.
