Support for MCRs

Supporting the transition

We recognise that transitioning to a MCR role can be challenging. Being a MCR is not a guarantee of a secure job, and MCRs may not have the established support networks of senior researchers. Some may be at institutions with relatively limited support and for others support may be available, but at the cost of independence.

Overall, we hope to create a space to support those who are moving towards independence but also need a bit more advice and guidance, than their senior colleagues. To achieve this, we organise events at the annual conference, and at other times of the year. We would also welcome new ideas on how we can help provide support to MCRs.

MCR communications

We hope to announce MCR events through the website, emails to members and the SSM Newsletter. (Hyperlink to the newsletter page here).

Please feel free to reach out to any of the subcommittee members if you would like further information, have any questions, or ideas.
